NAPA Retail

Updated: Aug 26, 2019

In the U.S., NAPA now includes over 58 distribution centers, 16,000 NAPA AutoCare Centers and more than 6,000 independently-owned and company-owned stores. NAPA carries an extensive inventory of more than 475,000 parts for automotive and industrial applications. https://www.napaonline.com/

By switching from old inefficient lighting technologies to Vision X premium LED lighting technology in 36 of its lighting fixtures, NAPA was able to save 32,400 kWh and $8,400 a year while outputting 30% more light. The increase in energy efficiency is also preventing the release of 22 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions from Alaskan coal fired power plants every year.

The lot on which the NAPA Auto Parts Fairbanks store is situated covers nearly 47,000 square feet, a sizeable amount of which needs to be kept lit at all times for safety and convenience purposes. The retail store area itself covers 4,500 square feet that must be kept well lit during business hours. Previously both of these tasks were accomplished with the use of old, inefficient 400-watt fixtures. All together the old fixtures consumed about 51,800 kWh of electricity per year, which thanks to Alaska’s high energy costs translated to an expense of $13,500 a year.

All told the upgrade to Vision X’s LED technology increased energy efficiency by 63% and reduced electrical consumption at the store by 32,400 kWh a year, which in turn reduced utility costs by about $8,400 a year. The reduction of energy costs alone will result in the cost of the upgrade being recouped in just under two years, as well as producing $33,000 of total savings in 5 years.
