Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah is regarded as one of the nations leading medical centers providing top of the line medical care to individuals from all over the nation. Prior to being retrofitted with LED lighting fixtures, IMC had high consumption 400-Watt Halogen and Metal Halide fixtures for their parking lot lighting. Interested in lowering their energy consumption and reducing their carbon footprint, the medical center looked towards Vision X Lighting to replace their existing fixtures with premium LED lighting technology.
Intermountain Medical Center reduced their annual energy cost by switching to LED lighting saving $48,705.00 annually just from retrofitting 278 parking lot light pole fixtures alone. Other projects included walkway lighting and a complete parking garage retrofit.
Over 900,000 square feet of parking space was using inefficient lighting technology that was increasing the facilities annual energy cost. The Medical Center already had lighting structures in place in the form of light poles and parking garage units, and wanted to Up-Cycle the existing infrastructure with a green solution. In addition to saving on operating cost, Intermountain Medical Center was concerned about their carbon footprint and cost to retrofit. The existing 400-Watt lighting fixtures had a daily operation cost of $213.50 that the medical center felt unnecessary with today’s lighting options.
The LED fixtures implemented by Vision X saved the Intermountain Medical Center $48,705.60 for each building in annual energy costs. Over the average life of the LEDs fixtures, Intermountain Medical Center will save $1,000,750 on energy expenses required to power their light poles.
